ETCES History
ETCES College for Advanced Studies, Manjeri, is a progressive higher education institution established under the Ernad Taluk Co-operative Educational Society Ltd. (Reg. No. M-311). The institution represents the continued vision of the Society, which was founded in 1982 with the objective of creating educational opportunities, generating employment, and supporting students from economically weaker sections in and around Manjeri, Malappuram district.
Early Foundations and Legacy (1982–1983)
The roots of ETCES College for Advanced Studies can be traced back to the formation of the Ernad Taluk Co-operative Educational Society in 1982. The initiative was led by a group of socially committed individuals who recognized the urgent need for accessible higher education in the region.
In 1983, this vision materialized with the establishment of Ernad Taluk Co-operative College, which initially functioned in a rented building at Pandikkad Road, Manjeri. Despite limited infrastructure in its early years, the institution quickly gained recognition for its inclusive approach and commitment to academic accessibility.
Growth, Expansion, and Academic Contribution
Over the past four decades, the institution steadily expanded its academic footprint and infrastructure. The college later shifted to its own campus near Vayapparappadi, Manjeri, marking a significant milestone in its development.
During this period, the institution played a key role in promoting higher education through multiple Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) programs, including distance education initiatives. Thousands of students from diverse socio-economic backgrounds benefited from these programs, reinforcing the institution’s mission of educational inclusivity and community upliftment.
Establishment of ETCES College for Advanced Studies (2022–2023)
In 2022, as part of its forward-looking vision, the Society established ETCES College for Advanced Studies to meet the evolving demands of modern higher education. A dedicated campus spanning approximately 5 acres of land in Manjeri municipal area was developed, equipped with essential academic and student support infrastructure.
The college successfully fulfilled all regulatory requirements and obtained affiliation from University of Calicut in June 2023. With this, ETCES College for Advanced Studies formally entered the higher education landscape as a new-generation institution.
Academic Programs and Launch
At the time of affiliation, four undergraduate programs were sanctioned:
